Schools Starting to Line Up for Norman

It has been an exciting few weeks for 2015 Culver City (CA) CB/WR Stanley Norman. The confident youngster turned in a few stellar camp performances (including a MVP showing at Sound Mind Sound Body, added a USC offer, visited Michigan... and this is really only the beginning of his recruitment,

Sam Webb:  Talk to me about your game.  For people who have not seen you play describe your game.

Stanley Norman:  “Dominating.  If it ain’t going to happen on offense, it is going to happen on defense.  If it doesn’t happen on defense, it is going to happen on offense.  That’s how it is.”

Sam Webb:  You came all the way across the country for Sound Mind Sound Body.  Is distance from home going to be a factor for you?

Stanley Norman:  “No not at all.  My family is from Louisiana.”

Sam Webb:  So you’ll go anywhere?

Stanley Norman:  “Yeah I’ll go anywhere.  I’m open to anywhere.”

Sam Webb:  So what offers do you have on the table right now?

Stanley Norman:  “I have UCLA, San Jose State, Washington State, Utah, Akron, and Marshall.  This past weekend on Saturday USC offered me.  My school had a 7-on-7 tournament.  They told me I had it for a while now, but I guess I didn’t catch on to it.  We made it official this past Saturday.

Sam Webb:  I know you made it over to that visit to Michigan visit.  How was that?

Stanley Norman:  “It was good.  It was amazing. I didn’t know what to expect.  I didn’t know it was going to be like that.”

Sam Webb:  What was that made it stand out so much?

Stanley Norman:  “The campus period.  The campus, I thought I was seeing stuff for different sports.  Everything he showed me was for football.  I’ve seen maybe seven different facilities.”

Sam Webb:  Where other places have you been and seen?

Stanley Norman:  “I’ve course seen USC, but I never went on a tour like I did with Michigan at USC or I never went on a tour at UCLA like I did with USC.  I pretty much know where everything is at those schools because it is right in my backyard.”

Sam Webb:  Did you get a chance to talk to any players or anything like that?

Stanley Norman:  “Yeah I talked to the freshman tight end. I think it was A.J. Williams. He just introduced himself and we was just laughing about some pictures of when Michigan first started back in the day and all that.  We were hanging out for a little bit.”

Sam Webb:  What is the vibe with Coach Ferrigno been?

Stanley Norman:  “That’s my guy.  He has shown me a lot of love.”

Sam Webb:  What other coaches did you get a chance to meet with on the visit?

Stanley Norman:  “Mainly we was with Ferrigno the whole time.  I met the other coaches.”

Sam Webb:  You play both ways and you did your thing at receiver and corner at Sound Mind Sound Body.  I know you talked about some schools recruiting you for both sides of the ball.  What is Michigan telling you about the position they like you at?

Stanley Norman:  “They said that they didn’t know where they wanted to play me at.  They said that they don’t know.  I told them that I wanted to play both ways and that’s what I’m going to do.  I’m determined to play both ways in college football.  I was just letting them know that that I’m going to play both ways.  He said that they respected that.  As I grow as a player, we will see what happens.”

Sam Webb:  What did Michigan say to you about an offer?

Stanley Norman:  “I don’t know.  I didn’t want to be pushy and ask them when are you going to offer me.  As of right now I’m just waiting.  I was expecting it to come this weekend, but unfortunately it did not happen.  I don’t know. I’m just going to wait and see when it comes.”

Sam Webb:  How did it feel from being that far away from home?

Stanley Norman:  “It did not really feel too bad.  I always traveled a lot due to track and because of my talent and football.  I’ve been traveling ever since I was little.  Being away from home is not really a problem for me where I go to college.  I have family everywhere.  Most of my family is in Louisiana and then back in California.  It is not really no problem.”

Sam Webb:  If distance is not going to be a factor, what are going to be the big factors in that choice?

Stanley Norman:  “Big factors are me being able to make an impact on a program as a true freshman. I’m going to go both ways.  UCLA offered me to play both ways.  I’m going both ways. Being able to play both ways and just feeling like I’m welcomed and I’m at home.”

Sam Webb:  What about timeline?  Are you going to wait until after your senior season to make a decision or are you going to be one of those guys who gets it done early?

Stanley Norman:  “I think I’m going to wait until probably after the season.  Maybe right before playoffs or something.  Everybody is just waiting on me because I have a lot of time.”

Sam Webb:  I know you mentioned you run track, what are your events in track?

Stanley Norman:  “The 400 and the 4x100 relay.”

Sam Webb:  Is that something you’re looking to do in college as well, or is just going to be just football?

Stanley Norman:  “I’m going to run track in college.  That’s what keeps me going in the fourth quarter.”

Sam Webb:  Do you have a list of favorites at this point?

Stanley Norman:  “As of right now not really.  I don’t have any favorites right now.”

Sam Webb: What does the USC offer do for them on your list?

Stanley Norman: “It was big.  As far as right now, Michigan has got their own side. I’ve got all of the schools that offered me, then it’s Michigan, then it’s everybody else that is interested in me.  I’m still waiting on an offer from Michigan.  USC is always going to be in my decision-making for college.”
