Ryan up for Lombardi Award

Michigan redshirt junior linebacker Jake Ryan is up for his position's top honor.

Jake Ryan's stellar redshirt sophomore campaign has earned him as spot on the Rotary Lombardi Award watch list.  The former Cleveland St. Ignatius star paced the Maize & Blue with 88 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles.

Thus far in his career he has started 24 of 26 games, including all 13 last year.

His chances at winning the award will depend largely upon how soon he can return from a torn ACL he suffered during the spring.  A tentative timeframe for him getting back on the field has been announced as early October.

The winner of Rotary Lombardi Award, which goes to the nation's top down lineman or linebacker, will be announced during a ceremony on December 11th  at the Wortham Center in Houston, Texas.
