Saturday’s Michigan / Notre Dame gridiron battle didn’t just benefit the Michigan football program’s recruiting efforts, it provided an assist to the Michigan basketball program’s cause as well. John Beilein hosted a number of heralded recruits on the memorable night, one of which was Des Plaines (IL) PG, Jalen Brunson.
The talented youngster had traveled the country on the AAU and camp circuit in recent months, but none of those stops matched the pure spectacle he witnessed in Ann Arbor last weekend.
“Crazy intense,” Brunson said describing the atmosphere. “I loved it there. It was a really good day to come on a visit.”
There was but one downside.
“Sadly I didn’t (get a chance to meet Trey Burke),” he said laughingly.
His disappointment was minor, though because his time with the current crop of Wolverines proved extremely rewarding. Saturday marked only his second visit to Michigan’s campus, the first of which took place in June was mostly dedicated to touring the campus and getting to know the coaches en route to receiving his offer. This time he was able to interact a great deal with the players, and one in particular made a very strong impression.
“I really got to know Spike (Albrecht),” Brunson stated. “He’s a great player, but an even better guy.”
All told the visit marked another positive step in Michigan’s courtship of the c/o 2015 star, but with an offer list that is growing more impressive by the day FOX Sports Next’s #2 floor general is far from naming favorites.
“I like Michigan and how the campus is so convenient for everyone and just how everyone is so supportive,” he said. (But) I like all of the schools that have interest in me. I haven’t cut my list down, so I’m still open to all schools right now.”
