3. Oregon State 51, at Utah 48 OT, Sept. 14
Oregon State answered a 41-yard Andy Philips field goal in overtime with a six-yard Brandin Crooks touchdown catch for the wild win. Crooks also caught second half scoring passes from 55 and 18 yards out, but despite the late heroics, it was Utah who came up with the big plays late as Travis Wilson ran for a nine-yard touchdown with just 21 seconds in regulation to force overtime. Wilson threw two touchdown passes and ran for three scores, including a 35-yarder in the third and a 24-yarder in the fourth, but he threw a pick six in the second quarter to Dres Anderson and game up two other interceptions.

2. at Michigan 28, Akron 24, Sept. 14
Michigan held on for dear life as a last second Akron pass into the end zone fell incomplete. The Zips hung around all game with a 27-yard pick six from Justin March and a one-yard Tyrell Goodman touchdown run in the fourth giving them a 24-21 lead, but Michigan roared back and took the lead for good on a two-yard Fitzgerald Toussaint run with just under three minutes to play. But the Michigan defense bent and bent and bent until the final play.

1. Alabama 49, at Texas A&M 42, Sept. 14
In a wild shootout, Alabama overcame a 14-0 lead with 35 straight points, but Texas A&M kept coming back time and time again, with Johnny Manziel throwing his fifth touchdown pass of the game with 15 seconds to play to pull the Aggies within seven. Alabama recovered the onside kick to escape the shootout. Alabama took control with the power running game in the second half, but just when it looked like the game was going to be put away, T.J. Yeldon fumbled near the goal line. Instead of 49-28, a few plays later Manziel found Mike Evans for a 95-yard touchdown to make it 42-35. But the Tide responded with a nine play, 65-yard drive with A.J. McCarron finding Jalston Fowler for a five-yard score for what would be the winning points.
