With the end of his recruitment rapidly approaching Southfield (Mi.) defensive end Malik McDowell put the finishing touches on his visit schedule over the next few days. All that was needed to wrap it up was a connection with Michigan head man Brady Hoke.
"He talked with (Hoke) late last night," McDowell's father reported. "(Michigan's in-home) is for tomorrow. We (i.e. both parents and Malik) are going to Ohio State this weekend. Florida State is making it in tomorrow also."
It's possible that morning visit from Michigan State could start the day, but that Hoke & company will finish out the day of meetings is definite. That will mark the Wolverines' last face-to-face opportunity to deliver its pitch. From there it will be on to Columbus where the Buckeyes hope to complete their late rise up the list. Theirs is a case that could be bolstered by the presence of new defensive line coach Larry Johnson.
Whatever happens over the next few days, don't expect McDowell to extend his recruitment past signing day.
"We'll know once we get back from Ohio State," the elder McDowell stated. "I don't think he is going to postpone it. I think he is going to sign with somebody on Wednesday."
