"I really like that Michigan is showing interest in me," Murphy said on the Wolverines. "They have sent me a lot of letters. Just making that initial contact and I appreciate that as a player. They don't have to do that, they can recruit any other running back and they are choosing me. I would like to show that interest back and hopefully build a relationship with them."
And while Maize and Blue have yet to make face to face contact with the three-star back, Murphy says if they coaches were to do so – he would listen.
"I do like Michigan," Murphy said. "And if they were to reach out and contact me, I would (go if) they would ask me to come up and see the campus and maybe extend an offer as a running back or something. That would be an ideal situation.
‘I would like to make the trip up there. Heck, I have driven over to Detroit before. It's nothing by now, driving the roads are nothing."
Currently, Murphy has offers form Iowa, Illinois and Mississippi State. He said he also hearing considerable interest from Northwestern, Arkansas, Indiana, Nebraska and Ole Miss. This past weekend Murphy took visits to Mississippi State and Ole Miss and says he is planning a trip to Missouri this upcoming weekend. He also said a visit to Florida is in consideration in the near future.
"One thing I am looking for is how the atmosphere is at the school," Murphy said, on what he looks for on his visits. "How the coaches are. How the players are. Is there a good chemistry. Is there a family. I am looking for academics and, of course, if that program could get me to the next level beyond college."
As far as decision timeline, Murphy says he'll start pondering his final decision during his senior season.
"More into my senior year I will start breaking things down," Murphy said on his decision. "Right now I am just trying to enjoy the process. I want to check everything and every offer that I have or end up having after I take some official visits."
