INDIANAPOLIS -- Peterborough (Ont.) St. Peters 2016 cornerback Patrice Rene came on the scene last summer with a strong performance at Sound Mind Sound Body Football Academy. At 6-foot-2, 195-pounds, and the ability to play corner, he showcased why college coaches are starting to show him interest, too.

"As a corner I bring a lot of size," Rene said. "I'm taller than your average corner. I can cover pretty well. I am aggressive off the line. Sp that's what coaches are looking for and I think that's what I am. At the same time, I think I could also play safety with similar aggressive type of play style. "

On Monday, Rene came down to the Best of the Midwest Combine with his 7-on-7 football team, and while he didn't compete in the events activities, he was still was able to give his latest thoughts on his recruitment.

Rene said he has offers from Syracuse and Akron. He also noted Cincinnati, Michigan State, Ohio State, Michigan, Vanderbilt and Penn State are starting to show interest. He has already been to Michigan's campus twice for campus visits, and talked glowingly about his thoughts on the Wolverines.

"I have been following them for quite a bit now," Rene said on the Wolverines. "I really big fan of Charles Woodson. I have visited campus twice already. I have just fell in love with the tradition, coach (Brady) Hoke and stuff like that.

"I like what they offer. I like what they are doing. I know this year they didn't accomplish what they were expecting. But they got a great class coming in with Jabrill Peppers. I think I can be part of that."

While Rene doesn't have his next visit scheduled to U-M as of yet, he says he hopes to get to campus this summer for football camp.

"I am probably going to try to go up there for summer camp if I can," Rene said on a possible visit to U-M. "If I can't, then I will probably end up visiting this year.

"When I get there I want to see if the coaches have changed or what they are looking for in their team. Who are they recruiting? If I go there, will I have playing time? Stuff like that."

And if the Wolverines were to offer Rene, he admits it would have "great value" in his recruitment.

"I think it would mean a lot and would have great value," Rene said on a possible Michigan offer. "I have been following Michigan for a long time. I really like what they are doing. If I did get the Michigan offer, I think it would have significant value in my recruitment."
