"This is my first time in 7-on-7 ever," Vilain said. "Overall, I think I did pretty well for a first timer." At 6-foot-4, 230-pounds, Vilain showcased great athleticism and coordination for a player who is still finishing up his freshman year of high school . And top schools are starting to take notice, as well.
"I talked with Michigan last year," Vilain said. "I went to Michigan State this year and talked with their coaches. I have talked with Syracuse. I was supposed to go down to Rutgers. I think they are interested."
Vilain says he plans on camping at U-M, MSU, Syracuse and Rutgers this summer. He said he met the Michigan coaching staff last summer at Sound Mind Sound Body, and came away with a good first impression.
"From my personal experience with the coaches I like them a lot," Vilain said. "They are really nice."
And when Vilain camps at U-M this summer, he says he would like to get the know the staff better this time around.
"I would like to visit with the coaches before the start of the camp," Vilain said. "I would like to showcase my skills against some of the top seniors camp."
As far as what he is looking for in a program, Vilain said: "I am looking at the academics first. And then talk to the coaches and see if the coaching staff is nice. I would like to check out the facilities. How they run their defense and all that."
