He already holds notable offers from Alabama, Florida State and Georgia, and just last week he earned another big time offer, when Michigan offensive line coach Darrell Funk phone his coach with an offer from the Wolverines.

"I really like Michigan, because it's the Big Ten," said Merritt, who recently transferred to Washington D.C. Archbishop Carroll. "They have always been one of my favorite schools. I really like football down there, because it's a good atmosphere, it's 115,000 fans cheering you on, it's crazy. I just want to come down there for a visit . I'll probably come down to a game just to look at the campus and see what is going on."

What does Merritt know about the Wolverines?

"They definitely send tackles to the (NFL)," he said. "Big tackles, you know? That's what coach Funk was telling (my coach), and my coach was just relaying the message to me. ‘They put a lot of big guys in the NFL, just like you, pancake hitting guys, have a dog in them.' That's just something I love about Michigan. They have good academics, of course, I know that."

Merritt says he plans on camping at U-M, Ohio State ,Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida State, Florida and Virginia Tech among others this summer. And while he is on these campus visits, he says he will be looking for certain characteristics in each program.

"What I really want to standout is the academics, of course, where am I going to get the best education?" he said. "I want to go to the NFL. But if the NFL doesn't work, I will have a good education to get a good paying job. That's really my main thing. Of course, foot ball, you know? The coaches that are going to get me into the draft. So that's what I am really looking for."

In the meantime, Merritt is looking to keep building his resume as heads into his junior campaign.

"I'm trying to get my five-star early, while I am in the 10th grade. I really plan on winning a (conference) championship for Carroll. That's really my plans for the year."
