Three-star DE is Hearing from Wolverines

Cary (N.C.) 2015 DE Anthony Rush talks U-M, updates his recruitment and more.

Cary (N.C.) 2015 defensive end Anthony Rush has been hearing from the Wolverines since fall. The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder says the Michigan coaching staff as stopped by his school numerous times and there seems to be a real interest from the Maize & Blue.

"They got a big stadium," Rush said on what he knows about Michigan. "But I am really not looking at any college hard right now. I am just focusing on my school work and focusing on next year, to be honest."

Rush says he would like to visit Michigan this summer, however, he admitted he would more likely visit if the Wolverines were to offer.

"Michigan is not right around the corner," Rush said. "It's up there."

And if the Wolverines were to offer?

"It would mean a lot to get a scholarship from anybody," Rush said. "If they want you to play for them, that's big."

Currently, the three-star prospect holds offers from Clemson, Florida, Kentucky, NC State, North Carolina and Virginia. He also hearing from Michigan, Duke, Ohio State and Notre Dame, among others.

With many expected visits coming up, Rush says he likes to go on surprise visits when checking out his future program.

"I'm looking for a place that is home," Rush said. "I want to visit campus when nobody knows I'm there. I want to go see how life is there when nobody knows I'm there. I'm not that type of person, ‘Oh, I'm coming to visit." So then they set everything up. No, I just show up. That's how I do it. I did that NC State. I did it at North Carolina.

While Rush wouldn't name a top-five, he noted that Clemson, Kentucky and North Carolina are sticking out the most right now. He says he will name his top-five at the end of the summer. His planned upcoming visits include Clemson, Kentucky, Florida and Notre Dame.

As far as a decision timeline, he is hoping to make his commitment at the end of his senior season.

"I was thinking during senior night during halftime," Rush said.
