Boykin talks Michigan, Malzone

New Lenox (Ill.) Providence Catholic 2015 WR Miles Boykin updates his recruitment, talks Mihcigan, his talks with Michigan quarterback commit Alex Malzone and more.

Four-star wide receiver Miles Boykin made his way up to Avondale, Mich. for the Midwest Elite 7v7 Passing Tournament last weekend. The tournament provided the highly touted prospect be opportunity to work on his football game after a long off-season of basketball and lifting.

"I think I am doing fine," Boykin said. "I'm still a little rusty. I haven't run routes in a while. I have been just hitting the weight room and playing basketball. I think we have done very good as team. We have a new offense and we're trying to get better at it."

Boykin, who stars at New Lenox (Ill.) Providence Catholic, recently released his top-ten schools which included Michigan, who he says he will visit this weekend.

"I like Michigan," Boykin said. "They said I will have a similar role to Devin Funchess if I go there. It's just matter of me liking the players and liking the coaches once I go down there."

Also participating in the tournament was recent U-M commit, Alex Malzone, who reached out to Boykin to get him on Michigan's campus.

"He just wants to get up there and hangout with me," Boykin said on his conversation with Malzone. "He just wants to get to know me. Of course, he's trying to recruit receivers – he's a quarterback. He's just real cool."

"I watched his highlight tape. He was pretty decent on his highlight tape, he was good. That's about all we talked about."

With Malzone set to go to Michigan, does it make it more intriguing for Boykin to become a Wolverine?

"You always want to go to a place with a good quarterback coming in with you," said Boykin.

As far as a decision timeline, Boykin says he is aiming for a August commitment.
