Buford hopes he left an impression at MSU

Southfield (Mich.) defensive back camped at MSU on Sunday, eager to prove his worth after missing much of his junior year with an injury.

After missing much of his junior year with an injury, Southfield (Mich.) defensive back Ray Buford is eager to show coaches what he can do this summer.

"I have to prove my worth," Buford said. "I have MAC offers, so now I need to prove to the big-time programs that I can compete at that level."

The 6-foot-1, 188-pound cornerback started his camp circuit at Michigan State on Sunday and left feeling it went well and that he made an impression.

"It went decently," he said. "I had a minor injury I was trying to fight through, so it could have gone a little bit better at full health.

"I feel I showed I can be another physical, tall corner in the Spartans secondary."

Now, Buford will play the waiting game to see if an offer comes, but he is hopeful it will.

"An MSU offer would mean the world to me," he said. "That'd be such an honor coming from the Rose Bowl champs."

Next up, Buford will attend Sound Mind, Sound Body and Ohio State camps.
