Thompson Updates Recruitment

Detroit (Mich.) King 2015 LB Tyriq Thompson gives the latest in his recruitment.

Detroit -- 2015 four-star linebacker Tyriq Thompson is already one of the highest ranked prospects from the Great Lakes' State.

Rated the No. 20 OLB in the latest Scout.com player rankings, Thompson says he is coming to Sound Mind – Sound Body football camp to continue to prove he is one of the nation's best.

"I'm just trying to get higher in the rankings," Thompson admitted. "Just compete, have fun and compete. That's pretty much all I want to do."

Thompson, who stars for Detroit (Mich.) King, recruitment is heating up, too.

He currently holds notable offers from Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin to name a few. But it's the Spartans, who the 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker has been visiting the most lately.

"The last place I went to was Michigan State," Thompson said. "I just went up there to hangout. I really haven't been everywhere else really.

"It's a great program. Coach Dantonio is doing a good job with what they are doing. They are doing a great job recruiting. It's a nice place."

However, Thompson did note that he is still in contact with the Wolverines.

"I still talk to Coach Singletary and Coach Mattison periodically," said Thompson.

Thompson says he has no upcoming visits planned this summer. He has no top-five. He also noted he has no decision timeline planned as of yet.
