Rene Adds Two After Sound Mind

Ottawa (Ontario) St. Peter 2016 cornerback Patrice Rene picked up offers from Ohio State and Indiana following his performance at the Sound Mind, Sound Body Football Academy. He talks about the Buckeyes and his recruitment here.

It was a successful trip to Detroit for Patrice Rene, as the rising junior cornerback once again impressed at Sound Mind Sound Body with his size (6-2, 200 pounds) and athleticism. He came away from the event with offers from Ohio State and Indiana.

"When Ohio State offered, I felt very excited," he said. "I've been talking to them for awhile now. I camped there last year and met Coach Coombs here at Sound Mind Sound Body last year, so we started building a relationship and he got a chance to see me again this year and was impressed with he saw and decided to offer me a scholarship."

The Buckeyes offered Rene at his natural position of cornerback, but told him that if he keeps growing, a move to safety could be possible. He hopes to make it to Columbus again in the near future.

"I'll try to go down for a visit later in July, try to hit up their Friday Night Lights camp, but if not, then sometime in the summer. I'm very excited about Ohio State. It's obviousy a great school, a lot of success with the defensive backs and also as a team."

That would be an opportunity for him to see the school again.

"I've been there before once. Campus is beautiful. It was a beautiful day when I went there. I got to see a lot, got to talk to some of the players, so I was just amazed. They have great facilities, great coaches, I got to meet Coach Urban Meyer and I was very impressed."

As for next steps, Rene says, "I'm going to take a visit to Michigan (Saturday) and then other camps, I'm going to hit Penn State camp and those are the only certain things right now."

Currently with additional offers from Rutgers, Syracuse, and Akron, Rene knows he has plenty of time and as a result, is not rushing his recruitment.

"As of now, I think the process is still early so I don't have top schools but I'm very open to all the schools that are interested in me and listening to what they have to say. I want to take full advantage of my recruiting process."
