Hubbard (OH) senior runningback L.J. Scott has been on the recruiting radar since putting up huge numbers as a freshman, and his offer list includes the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Michigan State, Ohio State, West Virginia, and others.
Scott, 6-foot-2, 230-pounds, is closing in on his college choice, and that decision will come in July. The four-star back has narrowed his choices to two schools.
"Right now, I'm not going to say who the top choice is, but next month I will be committing for sure," Scott stated. "I don't have the exact date yet, but it will definitely be in July. Ohio State and Michigan State are the two schools I'm considering."
He admitted that he knows he's facing a tough decision, but Scott expressed admiration for both programs.
"Michigan State is all about family and everybody is real tight, from the players, the coaches, their wives and children, and that's what I like about them," he explained. "I'm being recruited by Pat Narduzzi, and we have a great relationship."
"We are tight and every time we talk it's not only about football, but he always wants to know how I'm doing," he added. "It's a great school and a great football program, and I know I would fit in well there."
Scott also talked about his thoughts on the Ohio State program.
"At Ohio State, I'm being recruited by Chris Ash and we are getting pretty tight as well," Scott said. "Coach Ash has had a positive impact on my recruitment, and when I was there recently we toured the campus together. We talked about everything."
"Ohio State has a program called "Real Life Wednesdays", and that impressed me because it's about life off the field and how they can help me with life after football," he continued.
There are visits planned to both schools in the next few weeks.
"I'm not really agonizing over my choice, because I feel I have two great choices and I can't go wrong either way," he stressed. "I have not made my choice yet, and I still have some thinking to do. I will be visiting both schools with my mom in the next few weeks."
"I was supposed to go to Ohio State with my mom this week, but it's now going to be later in June," Scott said. "I will definitely see both schools with my mom in either late June or early July."
Scott and his Hubbard teammates were working out Tuesday evening, and there are high hopes for the coming season.
"I'm training hard and working hard with my teammates, and guys are fighting for positions," Scott stressed. "We need to get past Week-13 this season, whether it's by beating Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, or whoever we play. The goal this year is a state title, nothing less."
