Hayes Talks Wolverines

Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's 2016 linebacker Daelin Hayes updates his recruitment.

Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's 2016 linebacker Daelin Hayes was close to committing to the Wolverines earlier this spring. While he admits there is no love lost for Michigan, he is now giving all the schools involved his recruitment a fair shot.

"Everybody has a fair chance right now," Hayes said. "I mean, obviously I postponed the commitment and everything. That was through the advice of my coaches, my family as far making a decision. We definitely want to wait and let the process work itself out. As far as where [Michigan] stands – they are still Michigan. I still love the school. I still love every school. Every school has something different to offer me."

While the four-star prospect speaks highly of the Wolverines, he says there is still some things he would like to know on his next visit to Ann Arbor.

"Just far as schemes that they go over," Hayes said. "Where would I fit into their defense. Would I be a SAM or WILL? I talked with coaches at Michigan State and Ohio State, they said I could play all three [positions]. Far as where they would fit me in, and things that I can do to better prepare myself when I go to school in summer of 2016."

Currently, Hayes holds notable offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Notre Dame to name a few. At the moment, he says he doesn't have a top-five,. He also noted what he is looking for in his campus visits.

"I am never going into a college visit with a mindset, ‘How fast can I get to the league?'" Hayes said. "I definitely want to do that. But along the way I want something to fall back on. We all know that the league is not likely for everyone. Of courses that is the No. 1 goal, but you also want have something to fall back on."

Hayes is currently ranked the No. 7 outside linebacker and No. 67 overall player in the latest Scout.com player rankings.
