Gophers A Contender For Perry

Minnesota was out in full force at the SMSB camp and one kid that impressed them was wide receiver Grant Perry. He updates his recruitment, his performance and more inside!

Bloomfield (MI.) Brother Rice senior wide receiver Grant Perry is a very humble and hard working type of kid. He has been crafting his art this off-season and has opened some eyes while doing so especially recently at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp in Detroit, Michigan.

"It went really well," Perry told GopherDigest. "I thought I excelled in the one on ones and I thought it was a good day to battle. I learned to compete and we sat for three hours and talked about competing. Everyone was there for the same goal to earn a scholarship. At the end of the day, you got to compete."

"I definitely view myself as a small fish in the big pond at the camp, but when I went out there and went against the best, it definitely opened eyes. That was my main goal."

The 5-11, 175-pound shifty wide out talked to Illinois, Kent State, Michigan State and Minnesota at the camp. He goes into detail with what his contact with the Gophers has been like and how they thought he performed.

"The Minnesota coaches told me I did really good and were really impressed from my progress from the camp I went to last year," said Perry. "They thought I looked good."

"I still talk to Minnesota. Me and Coach Zebrowski Facebook each other. Our relationship is pretty good. He came to see me and Malzone throw over the spring and it went real well. I like Minnesota a lot. I think it is called Dinkytown and I like the town a lot. I will see if I can make it out to Minnesota for camp or a visit."

If the Gophers were to offer Perry, how much of an impact would that make in his recruitment?

"That would be big and would probably be my first Big Ten offer," said Perry. "I like them a lot too, so that would be real big. I have watched them play some games over the past season and I could definitely see myself in the maroon and gold jersey."
