Martin on the move this season

Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech offensive lineman will move inside on the line and talks summer camps, especially his experience at Sound Mind, Sound Body.

The offensive line at Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech figures to be a strength this season and junior Ostell Martin is ready to be a part of it.

"This year, I'm going to play right guard," Martin said. "Coach Wilcher wants to move me to the inside because I can handle it after working against Josh (Alabi) and Mike (Onwenu)."

The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Martin has spent the offseason camping around the country, including stops at Michigan State, Michigan and Sound Mind Sound Body.

"(At SMSB), I made the best of the best and did not lose a single rep, in one on ones or the best of the best," he said. "I heard a lot from Cincinnati yesterday. They said they were going to be out to look at me. Coach (Kerry) Coombs from Ohio State said he liked what I did yesterday and said he was impressed."

In the week following those camps, many players from Cass Tech headed down to Miami and NC State.

With the upcoming season and moving inside on the offensive line, Martin said he has been focusing on a few things to improve his game.

"Right now, I'm working on my bench," he said. "I want it to get to 350 or over because right now I'm at 315.

"I'm working on my pass blocking. The best part of my game is my feet, but I'm working to get even better at that and to stay low on my punch."
