St. Brown on SMSB, Readies For The Opening

2015 Anaheim (Calif.) Servite four-star wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown reflects on his experience at Sound Mind Sound Body, recent visits in the Midwest, his contact with Michigan, and more.

An unknown one year ago when he showed up at Sound Mind Sound Body out at Southfield (Mich.) high school, 2015 Anaheim (Calif.) Servite four-star wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown is now a highly recruited playmaker.

“This is where it all started for me,” St. Brown said. “I got my first offer out here last year from Illinois and I wanted to come back with my little brothers to help them get started as well.”

Taking the time to work on his body and his game since last year, St. Brown believes he’s made great strides heading into his senior season.

“I definitely got bigger and stronger and matured more,” St. Brown said. “I worked on my craft and worked with a private trainer to get better as a receiver and as a person.

“I had a great junior season and things have really escalated in the recruiting process.”

While out in the Midwest, St. Brown took visits to Notre Dame, Illinois and Northwestern before heading to Sound Mind Sound Body.

Nursing a minor injury, St. Brown chose not to compete in order to gear up and remain 100-percent healthy for The Opening in the middle of July.

“It’s not a real big thing it’s just I want to save it for The Opening,” St. Brown said. “That’s a big thing coming up so, it’ll be ok.”

Michigan was a school that took notice of St. Brown at last year’s Sound Mind Sound Body, has that interest continued?

“It kind of died down a little bit,” St. Brown said. “I don’t know where they’re at with me but we’ll see.”

Donning a Notre Dame visor while at the camp, St. Brown spoke fondly of the Irish, a fixture in his recruitment.

Still, with plans to take multiple official visits, St. Brown isn’t ready to name a leader or make a decision just yet.

“I don’t have a top list yet,” St. Brown said. “But I might narrow it down in the future and probably make my decision after my senior season.”

“It’s going to be a hard decision,” St. Brown added. “I’ve been thinking about it for a long time now so we’ll see.”
