Today, he had a rare opportunity to prove it against the nation’s best at The Opening in Beaverton, Ore. held at Nike’s world headquarters.
“I came out here and competed the top running backs, the top linebackers. I really had a lot of fun,” Weber said. “[Fellow running backs] like Damien Harris, Jacques Patrick, Jordan Scarlett, I have been competing against them guys without competing against them. Just hearing from the am and being able to go out there and getting to know them and just compete against them .”
Weber admits he has been building a relationship with Harris, who so happens to have some of the same offers like Michigan and Ohio State among others. But even though they have the same offers, Weber says there hasn’t been any talks about playing together in college -- not yet anyways.
“We never really talked about it,” Weber said on his conversation with Harris. “But that would be a good look. A real good one-two punch. If it would happen, whatever team it is -- is a real [good] looking team.”
At 5-foot-11, 205-pounds, Weber has been a major focus for Michigan and its 2014 class. He says he “most definitely” planning a visit later this month for Michigan’s annual Barbecue at the Big House.
“I’ll most definitely be at the [BBQ at the Big House].” Weber said. “Me and Damian decided to go. We are going to go together. So we will be at the barbecue. Michigan is getting back in the picture, most definitely.”
And does he want to do on his visit?
“Just hang out with them , get to know them a little better, because they could end up being my teammates eventually,” Weber said. “Guys like Alex Malzone, [Darrin] Kirkland, Damien Harris, we are all going to the barbecue. We are all going to get to know each other.” Weber says he has planned visits to Florida State and LSU this summer. And as far as his official visit lineup, Weber says he is planning on visiting Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Tennessee and one of his latest offers – Miami (Fla.).
“Miami is definitely in the picture for an official,” Weber said. “Really the history they have and the way they work down there. I like the coaches. [Yeah], they are in my top-six.”
