Beckner Talks Possible Visit To U-M

Four-star DE Terry Beckner Jr. talks about his performance at The Opening and more.

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Terry Beckner Jr. had an impressive three days at The Opening last week. The four-star defensive end said he started off slow, but ended strong as he was named one of the top-five defensive lineman in attendance.

“First I was trying to figure out what I was going to do, really,” said Beckner Jr., who comes in at 6-foot-5, 293-pounds. “I got the hang of it towards the end, though.”

Indeed he did, as he was dominate in the one-on-ones, winning the majority of his snaps.

“It’s a great experience,” Beckner Jr. said. “You know what I mean? You got the best people out here you’re going against. We’re all feeding off each other. You’re learning stuff from him, he’s learning stuff from you.”

Beckner’s recruitment, however, has been pretty cool as of late. He currently holds double-digit offers, but has only been on one campus visit this year to Missouri.

“There isn’t a lot [schools] that are sticking out,” Beckner Jr. admitted. “because I ahven’t really been focusing on it. I didn’t focus on it till after my season. So I haven’t really been thinking about college yet.”

Michigan is one of the notable schools on his offers sheet. He says the Wolverines have reached out to him, and he has thought about making a trip to Ann Arbor, Mich.

“I want to hear from the coaches and how I respond to them,” Beckner Jr. said.

As far as what he is looking for when he makes campus visits, Beckner Jr. says education will be major subject of interest.

The coaches, players, the facilities and education wise, far as how many players do they graduate each year,” Beckner Jr. said. ‘Stuff like that.”

In the meantime, Beckner Jr. says he is focused on going out on top his senior season.

“I just want to go out with a ring,” Beckner Jr. said.
