Vols all in for nation's No. 1 junior

Rashan Gary didn't waste time showing he deserved to be vaulted to the top spot in the nation for Scout's prospect rankings for the 2016 class. Sign in to get the latest on the five-star defensive tackle.

BEAVERTON, Ore. — The Tennessee staff isn't settling on signing just one No. 1 overall player in the nation in Kahlil McKenzie.

The Volunteers coaches already have an offer out and made their interest known for America's top prospect in the 2016 class, Rashan Gary.

The 6-foot-4, 287-pounder from New Jersey wowed onlookers during SPARQ testing at NIKE World Headquarters last week by clocking a laser-timed 40-yard dash of 4.74 seconds. Gary translated his ability to the one-on-one competition on Ronaldo Field as well, in spite of going up against highly ranked prospects with a year of maturity on him.

The Big Orange isn't the only Southeastern Conference team already after the Scout five-star as Alabama and South Carolina have their hat in the ring.
