Rising Junior Talks U-M BBQ

Oak Park (Mich.) 2016 cornerback, Abdullah Yaseen, discusses his visit to Michigan for the Barbecue at the Big House and more.

Oak Park (Mich.) 2016 cornerback Abdullah Yaseen is prospect on the rise in the Great Lakes’ State. On Sunday, the rising junior took an opportunity to checkout Michigan’s annual recruiting showcase – The Barbecue at the Big House.

“It went good,” Yaseen said. “It was a warm welcome. It was great. … We saw a lot of the campus [on Sunday]. It was really nice. I saw pretty much everything I wanted to see [on Sunday].”

Currently, Yassen doesn’t have any offers at the moment. However, a lot of that has deal with a back injury he said he suffered this past year. Due to the injury, he says the Michigan coaching staff says they want to see how he performs this fall in full pads, and the possibility of an offer may follow.

“I was talking to coach [Curt] Mallory and coach [Roy] Manning, they really want to see me in the fall and go from there,” Yaseen said. “I guess they want to see me make more plays out there on the field.”

Yaseen camped at Michigan in June. He says he is planning possible visits to Michigan State, Ohio State and Western Michigan this upcoming year.

In the meantime, the 5-foot-10, 165-pounder says he is focused on having an outstanding junior season at Oak Park.

“I just want to go out there and make plays,” said Yaseen.
