Peoples-Jones Targeting Big Ten Games

Cass Tech sophomore receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones talks opening night win over Oak Park and which schools he hopes to visit this Fall.

Donovan Peoples-Jones had a couple of key plays for Cass Tech in their narrow 27-26 come from behind win over Oak Park, including 47-yard touchdown reception where he showed his deep speed.

"It was great," he said. "We fought hard all game and to pull it off like this, it was amazing and I'm so thankful. We were uncertain for a minute, but once we get in our groove, we can't be stopped."

On that touchdown play, Peoples-Jones and the Cass Tech staff saw a favorable matchup and took advantage of it.

"They said if I wasn't on John Kelly's side, tell them and they saw that up in the box and coach did a great job checking to the other side and I was confident I could beat him and Rodney threw a great ball."

Having worked all season with quarterback Rodney Hall, Peoples-Jones and his teammates saw some of the fruits of their labor pay off, but he knows here is a long way to go still, not just in this season, but in their high school careers.

"Not all of it is paying off yet, but it's starting. We still have a long journey, three more years."

As for recruiting, the explosive sophomore already has five offers (Penn State, Miami-FL, North Carolina, NC State and Ohio State).

He visited Michigan on Saturday for their win over Appalachian State, and has his eye on a few other upcoming games.

"I know I'm going to get to Michigan-Ohio State and Michigan-Penn State, those are a couple that are on my list."
