Michigan sophomore point guard Derrick Walton is being asked to step into much more prominent role this year. The talented floor general is bigger, stronger, faster, and has added a leadership element to his repertoire as well. He chatted with the media recently about his individual improvements, the skills the freshmen bring to the table, and much much more,

Derrick Walton’s Michigan career got off to a strong start last year, as evidenced by his All-Big Ten freshman award. His 7.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game helped soften the enormous loss of Trey Burke the season before.  Now Walton is charged with taking his game to the next level.  After a summer of work with strength & conditioning coach Jon Sanderson and a memorable exhibition tour in Italy the talented youngster believes he is ready to rise to the occasion.
