LeVert Preseason All B1G, U-M Not in Top 3

Michigan junior Caris LeVert was selected as a Preseason All-Big Ten performer, the Wolverines not expected to finish in the top three in the conference.

CHICAGO -- Basketball season is here.

With media day underway at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, the Big Ten conference announced the selections for the All-Big Ten Preseason team, Preseason Player of the Year, and predictions for the top three teams in the conference.

For the first time in Michigan junior Caris LeVert's career the Pickerington (Ohio) native was selected to the Preseason All-Big Ten team.

Bursting onto the scene a year ago as a sophomore, LeVert was an All-Big Ten second team member after starting all 37 games Michigan played, all the while averaging 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.

With LeVert’s selection to the Preseason All-Big Ten team, Michigan has been represented on the list each of the last three seasons with Trey Burke heading into 2012-13, as well as Mitch McGary and Glenn Robinson III in 2013-14.

Player of the Year

In addition to being selected to the Preseason All-Big Ten team, Wisconsin senior Frank Kaminsky is named the conferences Preseason Player of the Year.

Starting in all 38 games for the Badgers a season ago, Kaminsky averaged 13.9 points and 6.3 rebounds.

Preseason Predictions

Michigan was not selected to finish as one of the top three teams in the conference.

Wisconsin was selected as a unanimous favorite to win the league, followed by a second place finish for Michigan State, Ohio State then coming in third.

Michigan won the regular season title in the Big Ten a season ago with a 15-3 record and the Wolverines are now 27-9 in conference play over the last two years.
