Albrecht Embraces New Roles This Season

Spike Albrecht discusses his role as a leader and expected aggression on offense.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – As Spike Albrecht prepares for his junior season at Michigan, his role is now different in year three in the program. No longer will he just be looked as a spark off the bench, but he will be looked as a leader.

A role he says, he has embraced on a team that is top heavy with underclassman.

“I have to go out there and hold people accountable and push them the best they can be,” Albrecht said. “Having been here [over] two years and knowing what it is like and kind of relaying that message to guys, ‘this isn’t easy.’ I’m kind of staying on them, having fun with it, stuff like that.”

And more is expected from Albrecht in offensive production end, too.

“I’m just trying to continue to develop my body,” Albrecht said. “Which is major part for me. Being a little more aggressive this year. Get in the lane a create things for myself and for others. Coaches asked me to be little more aggressive this year. So that’s something I will continue to work on.”

Michigan plays host to Wayne State for its exhibition opener at 7 p.m. tonight.
