"The president has made some comments, and I have talked to him. He called and apologized for his comments. I'm not going to speak for him. I know he's put out whatever statements or interpretations that he needed to. We have always believed that this is truly and academic university. I was here eight years before as you all know. And I think the one thing that you learn being a former player and also coaching, you can only play so long. And that's what this degree, a Michigan degree is all about. Being a truly academic institution that it is -- that degree will last forever. And so we take it very seriously. We try to recruit the best football players, the best student-athletes and the people that fit the blue print here at Michigan. And it's not for everybody, because it is demanding. That's the way it should be, though."
