Michigan to Play in Battle 4 Atlantis in 2015

Michigan basketball will compete in the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas in November of 2015, potentially meeting some familiar foes.

If temperatures in Michigan next November are as cold as the record breaking lows in 2014, the Michigan basketball team will find refuge.

Announced Friday evening via ESPN, the Wolverines will participate in the 2015 Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas on the week of Thanksgiving (Nov. 25-27).

Joining Michigan at the resort in the Bahamas will be Syracuse, UConn, Gonzaga, Texas, Washington, Texas A&M, and Charlotte.

The Wolverines have actually met four of the other seven teams in recent seasons including a win over Syracuse in the 2013 Final Four in Atlanta.

Although pairings have yet to be announced as part of the non-conference early season tournament, if Michigan meets the Orangemen again it could be for the second time in two seasons, the Wolverines set to play host to Syracuse next week on Tuesday, Dec. 2, part of the B1G/ACC Challenge.

Michigan lost to Charlotte 63-61 in the final of the 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-off a season ago.

The Wolverines also met Texas in the 2014 NCAA tournament in Milwaukee, topping the Longhorns 79-65 to advance to their second straight Sweet 16.

The Big Ten represented well in the 2014 Battle 4 Atlantis, No. 2 ranked Wisconsin beating Oklahoma 69-56 Friday night to claim the title.
