Beilein: 'Confident' U-M Will Get Better

Michigan lost its third straight game, as Arizona defeated U-M 80-53 Saturday. Read Beilien's post-game reaction inside.

Michigan head coach John Beilein addressed the media after No. 3 Arizona defeated the Wolverines 80-53 Saturday. His post-game transcript is available below.

Opening Statement…

“We just saw one of the premier teams in college basketball today in Arizona. Over the years we have been able to see some great teams. They’ve come to the Chrysler Center, we’ve played them in the NCAA Tournament and we’ve played them on the road. I told Sean (Miller) after the game that I hope they can stay injury free because they have a chance to be as good as anybody this year. Today Arizona showed they really have it all.”

On the team improvements …

“There are a lot of things we have to get better at. Our hope is right now that with time we will just keep getting stronger. Most things in life take time and I’m confident with time we will get there.”

On being down by 11 at the half …

“I thought we could battle if we kept them off the court. In order to stay competitive we had to make some shots. We had some tough turnovers and slipped on the floor a few times which isn’t an excuse, but Arizona is so good in transition because they have so many guys who can run and so many guys who can pass.”

On the message to the team …

“I think it’s a great reality check for everyone. We know that we have a lot of work to do. We have to stay together and keep working hard. We’ve been here before and our great teams have been in this exact same spot before, and this is just part of the process. We just have to keep getting better throughout the process.”
