His Recruiting Story:
Sarasota (Fla.) Riverview running back Karan Higdon committed to Michigan on signing day. A former Iowa commit, he took his official visit to Michigan on Saturday. The visit gave him a chance to soak in Ann Arbor, and it was obviously too good for the three-star prospect to turn down.
“Karan Higdon is more your North and South type runner. He's not a home run hitter. He’s well put together. No. 1 thing with Higdon, he’s an outstanding kid off the field. A great locker room guy as well.” – Florida recruiting analyst Corey Bender
VIDEO CAPSULE REPORT:
Offensive line coach Tim Drevno on Higdon:
"Karan is a power back, a physical runner -- he's got great instinct and football awareness with real good vision. He does a great job of lowering his pads especially when he's entering the goal line area. He is a real smart young man who had a 4.0 in high school."
Higdon will likely redshirt his freshman season in Ann Arbor. He does possess the qualities that U-M coach Jim Harbaugh wants in his running backs at Michigan. He is a tough, hardnosed runner, who can score around the goal line. He’s an under-the-radar player that Harbaugh can turn into a gem. Which is, well, what Harbaugh is known for.
