Lone Star State 2016 DT Talks Michigan

Fort Worth (Texas) All Saints’ Episcopal 2016 DT Mike Williams talks Michigan interest, possible visit and more.

Under new coach Jim Harbaugh, Michigan has made it a priority to recruit the Lone Star state.

Just two weeks ago, U-M assistant Greg Mattison was at Fort Worth (Texas) All Saints’ Episcopal to check in on offered four-star junior DT Mike Williams.

“I talked with Coach Mattison like two weeks ago,” said Williams, who rated the No. 82 player in the Scout 300.“He came by the school. I know he likes me. It was just a nice conversation about Michigan, the way they play and Coach Harbaugh.”

However, Williams was quick to admit he doesn’t know too much about Michigan and Harabugh, although he would like to change.

“I know a little bit [about UM]. I’m pretty much clueless about Coach Harbaugh,” Williams said. “I don’t know him as a person yet. I know my mom loves him. She’s a [San Francisco] 49ers fan. I just want to get a feel on how Coach Harbaugh is a person. That’s the most important thing if I have a conversation with him.”

With Michigan ramping up its interest in Williams, the 6-foot-3, 270-pounder says a visit to Ann Arbor is under consideration.

“I haven’t set anything up yet,” Williams said. “But it depends on the summer on what I can do and what mom can do.

“I just want to see the city [of Ann Arbor]. I want to get a good feel of the people. Just get that home feeling and feel comfortable around the campus and around the people – that feeling.”

Currently, Williams holds notable offers from Baylor, Oklahoma and Nebraska among others. But when asked, he says Ohio State, Stanford, Texas and TCU are sticking out the most right now in his recruitment. He has been on campus visits to TCU and camped at Texas last summer, and plans on visiting the Longhorns this weekend, as well upcoming trip to SMU and Oklahoma.

Williams says he would like to make his commitment known before fall camp.
