Brown is 'Considering' Michigan Offer

Houston (Texas) Alief Elsik junior safety Chris Brown discusses his first offer from Michigan, a possible visit to Ann Arbor and more.

Houston (Texas) Alief Elsik junior safety Chris Brown was on his way to his track & field event last week, when he received a random message from Michigan recruiting coordinator Chris Patridge.

What happened next? Well, Brown received his first offer from Michigan.

“I was on my way to a track meet and I noticed Coach Patridge followed me on Twitter,” Brown recalled. “Then my phone died. Dontavious Jackson our inside linebacker, he plays for us. He received an offer from Michigan too. We was at the track meet, then Dontavious called [Michigan]. He was like ‘Can you give us a call when you’re with him?’ He was like ‘I’m with him right now, he’s about to do his 4x100.’ I ran the 4x100 and then I gave coach a call. I talked to coach. He told me how much they liked my film. And they offered me right there -- right over the phone.”

Now that he has his Michigan offer, the 5-foot-10, 180-pounder admits U-M has move up steadily on his list of schools.

“Me personally, I believe in loyalty,” Brown said. “I feel like Michigan, they are my first offer. So it’s apparent they trust me their system. So I am really considering Michigan as one of my top schools.”

Next up for Brown – he hopes anyways – is an opportunity to talk with Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh.

“If I had a chance to talk with [Coach Harbaugh], I would want it to be about chemistry, just bonding,” Brown said. “It’s funny, because the [San Francisco] 49ers were my favorite team growing up. And it just so happens that Coach Harbaugh is now at Michigan. And now Michigan is my first offer. It feels great. If I ever have a chance to talk with him. I’m pretty sure I will. I just hope we can bond and be on the same page with everything.”

Brown says Oklahoma, TCU and Colorado are also standing out right now in his recruitment. He said he will be at Oklahoma’s junior day on March 7, and has already taken in a campus visit to TCU and Texas. So naturally, of course, he would like to take a visit to Michigan in the near future.

“I want to see the facilities and how everything operates,” Brown said. “I have a couple teachers from Michigan and they tell me it’s pretty small, it’s pretty cold. Things like that I really don’t worry about. I just want to go up there and meet with the coaches and bond with the coaches, have a good time and hop its’ a good fit for me.”
