Fitzgerald Building Relationship With U-M

Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus 2016 DE Andrew Fitzgerald talks Michigan interest, his thoughts on a possible visit to U-M, his other schools of interest and more.

Scout 300 junior defensive end Andrew Fitzgerald has continued his talks with the Michigan coaching staff, and while no offer has been made – yet – his overall views on the Wolverines are positive.

“They are just going to continue the process,” Fitzgerald said.”They are going to talk to my coach. They haven’t talked about that yet. But they are just going to keep recruiting me. They are going to come in and see me in spring ball and stuff. We’ll see.

“I mean I got a good vibe [with Michigan].I know they got a lot of tradition. The biggest stadium. The biggest alumni. Great fans and stuff. It’s a great program. I just know it’s a great program overall.”

Fitzgerald, who stars at Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus, does admit a Michigan offer would be “big.”

“It would be really big to me,” Fitzgerald said. “But I wouldn’t know to make any decision yet. I would have to look at the school and all my other schools that I have been talking to. But it would be a big thing, because they are a big time school. It would be big.”

And the odds are, he says, he would like to visit.

“If I did go, which I probably go if they were one of my tops schools and I had a good relationship with the coaches,” Fitzgerald said. “If I went up there I would want to see a good campus, meet the coaching staff and see how they are, and get a feel of the city.”

Currently, Fitzgerald holds notable offers from North Texas, Air Force, Colorado State and SMU. He has already taken a visit to North Texas for junior day. He says he is planning on visiting Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and SMU in the near future.

As of right now, Fitzgerald says he would like to make his commitment know before his senior season.

“I f I am content with the schools that I have and know for sure what I want,” Fitzgerald said.
