Lewis 'Excited' to receive Michigan Offer

Monroe (La.) Wossman 2016 safety Cameron Lewis talks Michigan offer, possible visit and more.

Four-star 2016 safety Cameron Lewis received a surprise offer when Michigan defensive coordinator offered the Monroe (La.) Wossman standout last week.

“I was excited because I have been following the Michigan program,” Lewis said. “I know they are a good team and stuff. Coach Harbaugh is a great coach. He’s a great guy. I know him from the [San Francisco] 49ers.

“I just want to talk to [Harbaugh] about Michigan and stuff. We are supposed to talk on [Tuesday].”

Next up for Lewis is a visit to Michigan, he says.

“Definitely I want to come visit,” said. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder. “I want to see the campus, the city, what’s around the city. What type of people are around. What type of field they got. What type of coaches they are face-to-face.” With notable offers from LSU, TCU and Arizona State, Lewis still maintains it’s too early to start naming any leaders.

“Every other school is the same as the other,” Lewis said. “But I like Michigan a lot though.”

But was quick to state his loyalty to his local team – LSU.

“I am most definitely a fan of the Tigers,” Lewis admitted. “I am form Louisiana. Growing up everybody know who LSU is. It’s LSU, LSU, that’s just how it is. That’s how it is growing up in the state with the biggest school.

“I like LSU a lot. I am open to everybody. I don’t mind going out of state. My interest and stuff, when I go take a visit, who know where I may end on signing day. It could be Canada, I don’t know.”

However, Lewis does know what he is looking for in a program.

“I am looking for a great program with great coaches,” Lewis said. “A place I can get a good degree. And a place I can win.”

Lewis went on a campus visit to LSU this past weekend. He has also been on campus visits to Louisiana Lafayette and Louisiana Tech. He has set visits with TCU on Feb. 21.
