To say recruiting is going well for Chesapeake (Va.) LB Jaquan Yulee lately would be an understatement. A few days ago the four-star middle linebacker added Alabama to his increasingly impressive roster of offers. Prior to that the University of Michigan tossed its name in the hat as well. It was a move that garnered the Wolverines instant traction in his recruitment.
“I've been in contact with Michigan since my sophomore year of high school and it is an offer I really looked forward to receiving,” said Yulee. “They have moved up in my top (group). I enjoy talking to the coaches on the D and them telling me what I want to hear.
The new Maize & Blue’s pursuit is being led by a tandem of charismatic recruiters that are definitely making their mark.
“I've had communication with Coach Partridge & Coach Durkin and they gave me a positive vibe,” said Yulee. “They made me feel like they wanted me as an asset and I would fit well with the defense.”
“I plan to come visit soon.”
When he makes that trip to Ann Arbor there is a good chance the sophomore teammate and recent Michigan offer recipient Devon Hunter will also be in tow. According to Yulee there will be a few major factors that he’ll be evaluating.
“The student to teacher ratio, graduation percentages, and what majors they have to offer along with future benefits,” he said.
A number of other programs will have similar opportunities to show how well they live up that criteria also.
“I plan on visiting a lot of schools this summer,” Yulee told Scout.com recently. “I plan on going to Ohio State, Florida State, UNC, NC State, Virginia Tech, UVA and Clemson. I plan to go to some Nike camps and some Under Armour camps too.”
