Michigan Visits in Dismuke’s Future

Michigan has been on the mind of 2016 Calabasas (Calif.) safety Marquel Dismuke since receiving an offer on signing day. Now the Golden State standout anxiously anticipating seeing Ann Arbor.

Amid all of the hustle & bustle of signing day, the Michigan coaching staff took a little time away from hovering over the fax machine and closing a few 2015 commitments to reach out to a few of next year’s targets. One of the 2016 prospects that came away with an offer that day was Calabasas (Calif.) safety Marquel Dismuke.

“I was talking to (Michigan recruiting staffer) Chris Partridge,” Dismuke recalled.  “He was telling me about the school and all of that.  Then he told me he wanted me to speak to defensive coordinator.  He put me on the phone with him.  After that it was like magic.”

“They sound pretty cool. And for them (to have been on the job for such a short period) and offer me like that on signing day… that was kind of cool.”

The Wolverines joined California, Mississippi State, Arizona State, Colorado State, San Diego State, and Utah on the 6-1, 180-pounder’s list. While Michigan sticks out as one of his more distant options, he insists proximity to home will not play a role in his decision.

“It will based on if I am happy,” Dismuke said matter-of-factly. “It might sound kind of weird, but I like to be on my own.  My family told me whatever makes me happy they are going to support me 100%.”

That bodes well for Michigan, but he isn’t ready to call the Maize & Blue his favorite.

“Man, that Michigan offer just fell out of the blue, but I’m still really looking at all of my offers equally.” Dismuke stated.  “But I’m ready to get this over with. (A decision will happen) probably before, but maybe after the season. (It will happen) this year though.”

That makes getting him on campus before next season crucial for the suitors in hot pursuit. To date he has been to Arizona State, Arizona, USC, Cal, and UCLA.  Making it to the Great Lake State is a definite priority.

“They want me to come soon,” he said. “I’m going to have to visit. I’ll probably (take an unofficial and an official).”
