“It came kind of out of the blue,” Perry said of his Michigan offer. “My reaction to the Michigan offer was jaw dropping. It was just shocking because it came quickly. I had only been talking to them not too long and they offered me a scholarship. It’s Jim Harbaugh one of the best coaches – period. He’s been to a Super Bowl.
“I am definitely considering Michigan. Michigan is one of the best schools, [will be one of the]best college football teams in the next couple years. I have actually talked with Coach Harbaugh before. A great guy. Really down to earth. He’s a great coach. He was a great player. So he understands how it is being a player. He definitely uses that in his coaching style.”
Now that he has his Michigan offer, Perry says his next plan it to get up to Ann Arbor for a visit.
“I’ll probably be going up to Michigan sometime during my spring break,” said Perry, who stands at 6-foot-3, 195-pounds. “I have two weeks for my spring break. I already spoke to Coach Harbaugh about it. As far what I want to see, I want to get a feel for the campus. I told the coaches I want to get a feel for what it’s like to be a Wolverine. It’s going to be different up there. I am definitely interested to see what Michigan is truly all about.”
A native of Auburn, Ala., Perry wanted to make it clear his allegiance isn’t to the south when picking a school. He says he is simply just looking for the best fit.
“It’s not really about SEC, ACC, or Big Ten or Pac 12,” Perry said. “It’s simply the best fit. It can be Sun Belt. It’s just wherever the best fit for me. If Michigan is the best fit for me, then that will be the school that I choose. I’m not afraid of going out of the south. I live away from home now. So that really doesn’t affect me. It’s about the best fit and best opportunity that’s granted to me.
:I am definitely going to weight out my options. Every scholarship is equal to me. But if I have to say one school that is recruiting me the hardest, It’s probably Florida. But I talk to Michigan a lot. I talk to Auburn a lot. I talk to all these schools a lot.”
“I look forward to Michigan,” Perry said. “It’s up north. It’s different than all of these southern states. So I am looking forward to that one.”
Perry says he would like to make his commitment known before his senior season.
