Hamler Talks U-M Interest, Hopes to Visit

Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary’s 2017 wide receiver K.J. Hamler has been in talks with the Michigan coaching staff. Will he visit? Does have interest in the Wolverines? Find out inside.

Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary’s 2017 wide receiver K.J. Hamler is a prospect on the rise in the Great Lakes’ State.

And top programs are taking notice.

Only a sophomore, he already holds notable offers from Michigan State, Cincinnati and Indiana, with more sure to follow. And while Michigan has yet to offer the speedy receiver. It hasn’t stopped the Wolverines from showing interest in the 5-foot-7, 150-pounder.

“I called Coach Partridge [last week],” Hamler said. “He wants me to come up there and look at the facilities and take a visit. I’m going to call him this upcoming week to see when I can go up there for a visit. “I just want to see how the program is. I want to see if the school shows a lot of love. I just want to see a good program, honestly.”

And if the Wolverines were to offer?

“It would mean a lot [if Michigan offered],” he said. “I grew up watching Michigan. Michigan was one of my top schools when I younger. It would be really nice to have that offer.”

Offer or not, Hamler made it clear he intends on checking out U-M soon – and even noted he might end up camping at Michigan this summer.

“I would consider camping this year,” he said. “I would have to see if that is on my schedule or not. Also if it’s not in the way of my high school football team and stuff like that, because we got 7v7 [football]. But I really do want to camp up at Michigan and see how it is.”

When he finally does make his way to campus, Hamler says he plans on talking with Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh himself – hopefully leaving with a scholarship, he says.

“I don’t really know him so him,” Chalmers said of Harbaugh. “But hopefully I hear I got a scholarship. That’s what I really want. But if they still have interest in me, that’s good as well. The offer would be nice from Michigan. It’s one of the top schools in the country.”

Hamler just received his offer from the Hoosiers after his latest visit. And admits he would like to make the Wolverines his next visit. He also fully disclosed what he’ll be looking for on his potential upcoming visit.

“I’m looking for a good academics,” he said. “A good football team and see if they treat you like family. Those are my top three things I am looking for.”
