Michigan Among Vigilant’s Childhood Favs

Michigan’s torrid offer pace continued Wednesday, as 2016 Downey (Calif.) RB Daevon Vigilant added his name to the Wolverines’ scholarship ledger. The news prompted an emotional response from the talented youngster that demonstrated how strongly he feels for the Maize & Blue.

Michigan is looking to take advantage offensive coordinator Tim Drevno’s West Coast roots.  His familiarity with the Golden State has been pivotal identifying rising stars, and recently he extended an offer to one of them.

After picking up offers from Colorado, Washington State and Utah on Wednesday, Downey (CA.) junior standout Daevon Vigilant added Michigan to his list Thursday.

“I almost cried,” Vigilant told Scout. “Michigan has been one of my favorite schools since I was little. (Drevno) also told me that I fit the offense they are trying to run. I do think I could fit into their offense because they are looking to run the ball more this year. I’m glad they are giving me an opportunity to play there.”

Now one of the priorities for the three-star, 5-9, 170-pound tailback hopes to check out the Maize & Blue in person.

“I like Coach Harbaugh and his staff are trying to change the program around and they have a good business school,” said Vigilant. “I’m very interested in them. I do plan to visit them in the future. I’m not planning my visits until summer though.”

Vigilant claims no leader at this time.
