"Minnesota, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Northwestern, Miami (Ohio), Eastern Michigan, Toledo and Iowa have all offered," Kelly-Powell told The Michigan Insider,: later adding. "The hard work is paying off."
Michigan, of course, is one of his top offers. He recalled how that offer came to be.
"I go the offer because of Coach Wilcher," he said. "He told me to come to the office. He said 'I need you to talk to this man.' I said 'Who is it?' He said 'It's Coach Wheatley.' We went in the backroom, Coach Wheatley talked -- and he offered me."
And so far his early impressions of Wheatley and Michigan have been positive.
"[Wheatley and I] talked one-on-one about my career," he said. "Me wanting to be a lawyer and everything. He gave me a good feel of to go along with that. I said 'OK.' He's a pretty good guy. Michigan overall has changed the culture, I can see that."
Kelly-Powell says he plans to attend Michigan next month when U-M plays host to states top-eight prospects from the class of 2017.
"I will checking out their education," he said. "If it's fun and their overall competition, leadership -- everything."
