At a whopping 6-4, 320-pounds, Philadelphia (PA.) Imhotep guard JonCarlo Valentin can be a load to handle. His ability to punish his opponent on practically every play has garnered attention from several BCS schools. The University of Michigan is one of them.
“They offered me after they watched me work out,” Valentin told The Michigan Insider. “I was overly excited. Not really did I see it coming. I am very interested in Michigan. I like everything about them.”
“I already have visited them. I was there last summer and it went wonderful. I do want to visit again, but I just don’t know when yet.”
The Wolverines are turning up their interest in Valentin at the same time that a lot of schools are. He is one of the hottest players in the Keystone State’s 2016 class.
“My recruitment is going great,” said Valentin. “Yeah, a lot of schools have stopped by. (Laughter). Michigan was one of them. Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Oregon, Wisconsin, Florida State and Wake Forest have all came by. I don’t have a top list or any visits coming up either.”
One factor that the Maize & Blue has going for it is its strong standing with Valentin’s highly touted teammate Naseir Upshur. The youngster nicknamed “Pop” is one of the top tight end’s on Michigan’s board. So could we possibly see a package deal?
“That’s like my brother,” said Valentin. “We talk about (playing together) all the time, but I would like to play with more than just Pop.”
