Top 2017 Lineman Interested in Michigan

Camden (N.J.) High 2017 lineman Cesar Ruiz discusses his interest in Michigan and more.

Michigan stopped by Camden (N.J.) High recently to check in on one of the more talent rich schools from the Garden state. One player of interest is 2017 lineman Cesar Ruiz, and while U-M has yet to offer the 2017 standout, he says the Wolverines are very much interested in his services.

"My coach says Michigan likes me," he said. "But I really haven't heard much from their offensive line coach or offensive coordinator or anything.

"I know Michigan is a great school for offensive lineman. I know Jabrill Peppers goes there, he's from New Jersey. They got the right coach in Jim Harbaugh. He's going to start doing big things with the program. He's a big coach. He's coaches from the [NFL] league with him. I feel like they are going to be not the Michigan from last year, but they are going to rise back to the top like the old Michigan was."

That being said, what would a potential Michigan offer mean to Ruiz?

"A Michigan offer would mean a lot to me," he admitted. "Being that two of my teammates have Michigan offers right now. Next year I should have that Michigan offer, then I'll have an opportunity to take a visit to learn more about Michigan.

"I plan on taking visits to schools that offer me at least once or twice. So I know if Michigan offers me I'll eventually find some way to get up there in the next two years."

Currently, Ruiz holds 11 offers from notable schools Alabama, South Carolina, Auburn and Arizona State among others.

"When I start looking at these schools the main thing I will be looking for is a school that has my major," he said. "A school that wants to support me for not only football but for academics. A school where education is really important. A school that can better me in football and that can better me as a person."
