COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech 2017 safety Jaylen Kelly-Powell came down to The Opening Regional with something to prove.
What did he prove exactly? Well, he proved he can compete with the best that the Midwest has to offer.
"I did good," he said. "I came down here with my teammates and competed and everything. I had a lot of fun."
Already with notable offers from Michigan. Michigan State and Northwestern, Kelly-Powell says there is no early leader in his recruitment. However, he says he will be on Michigan's campus today when they play host to the top 2017 prospects from the Great Lakes State.
"I want to spend time with the coaches and see the campus more," he said, on his impending trip to Ann Arbor today.
"We all know each other, so it's just an opportunity to kick it and hangout and have fun," Kelly-Powell said.
"I have seen a lot [at Michigan] so far. I have seen a lot of the campus. I've seen the players. I have seen how they compete. I just want to sit down with the coaches and hear their mindset and everything."
As far as upcoming visits, Kelly-Powell plans on taking a cross country tour with his Cass teammates this summer to checkout notable schools Miami (Fla.), Florida State, USC and Stanford among others. He also pointed out besides Michigan, Northwestern is also recruiting him pretty hard.
