The Sound Mind Body camp in Macomb, Michigan lived up to billing once again this year with some of the top players from across the nation coming in to prove they have what it takes to compete against some of the best. Detroit (Mich.) King junior cornerback and Penn State commit, LaVert Hill was definitely one that lived up to his billing. That's why it should come as no surprise that the Michigan coaching staff was watching him closely. Though clearly an uphill battle, the Wolverines do have a major advocate forwarding their cause.
“My commitment is 100 percent solid right now,” Hill told The Michigan Insider. “My brother (Michigan safety Delano Hill) talks to me about going to Michigan and he wants me to go there, but basically he tells me to choose whatever I like though. He has also told me that Michigan is going to be pretty good this year.”
“(Delano) really likes the coaching staff a lot and Coach Harbaugh is a cool dude. I have talked to the staff before and I know they all have NFL coaching experience and they develop their players.”
The 5-10, 176-pound corner has been training this off-season and is working hard to perfect him his craft. That takes precedence over talk of making it back up to Ann Arbor.
“I don’t know right now if I will visit,” said Hill. “I wasn’t really thinking of visiting, but just working on practicing and stuff like that.”
Despite that the Michigan coaching staff has not pulled back from their full court press and have maintained that same message that he’s still very much wanted.
“Michigan is recruiting me pretty hard,” said Hill. “They are telling me that they want me here and like what I do and how I play corner. Overall, just how I would be a great fit at Michigan.”
The Wolverines are hoping that their uptick with some of the in-state prospects and his brother's presence will start helping the Motor City standout see the great fit too.
“I’m pretty tight with the in-state commits and hang out with them every time I go to Michigan,” said Hill. “Me, my brother and them hang out pretty much.”
