MACOMB, Mich -- Tampa (Fla.) Hillsborough 2017 DE Zachary Carter came up to Sound Mind Sound Body football camp to see if Midwest football was worth all the hype.
And after a strong two-day performance, the talented sophomore walked away with a whole new perspective after attending the northern football camp.
“It was good to come up here and compete,” Carter said. “I’m not used to the up north. It was good to get a taste of up here. It’s good to get a taste of everywhere. I did really good up here.”
Currently, Carter’s recruitment is trending in the right direction too. He already holds notable offers from Clemson, Penn State, Florida and Indiana, among others. Plus, during his camp stay he got a chance to work with some of the Michigan coaching staff as well.
“I know they are a big time program,” he said of Michigan. “Coach Harbaugh. I know he is changing things around up there.”
And if Michigan were to offer a scholarship his way, Carter says it would go a long way in his recruitment.
“It would be big time,” he said on a U-M offer. “I would take that in consideration. I would want to visit too.”
That visit – if it happens – will give Carter a chance to see truly what U-M has to offer.
“I really want to see their facilities,” he said. “I want to learn more about what they to offer academically.”
