Michigan Still Strong with Brown

There are two schools that Houston (Tex.) Alief Elsik defensive back Chris Brown knows he will take official visits to, and Michigan is one of them.

Sam Webb:  Outside of the hand how is the offseason going for you?

Chris Brown:  “Offseason is going great.  We’ve been busting our tails this past spring and busting or tail this summer.  Today was the first day of summer workout.  Despite the little wrist injury, I was out there running and getting a little conditioning in.”

Sam Webb:  I had an opportunity to talk to your dad about the Michigan visit but not you, so take me back to that.  I know it was a little while ago, but what stuck out to you about that experience?

Chris Brown:  “Most of all the people, the stadium, the facilities, the coaches, everything about Michigan was positive besides the weather, but that’s neutral.  Weather won’t be a problem.  The Michigan trip was a great experience.  It was my first time being in Ann Arbor and I had fun.  I really enjoyed myself.”

Sam Webb:  You are a very versatile guy, where did Michigan point out to you and say where they want you to play?

Chris Brown:  “Michigan wants me to play corner.”

Sam Webb:  Do you have a preference?

Chris Brown:  “No.  Wherever the coach needs me on the field is where I’ll play.”

Sam Webb:  It seems like you established a little bit of a vibe with Coach Durkin, what do you think of him?

Chris Brown:  “He’s a pretty cool guy.  I like how he coaches with a lot of energy.  He’s a good coach, a great coach, but most of all he is a better person.”

Sam Webb:  What did you think of Coach Zordich?

Chris Brown:  “He’s real cool.  On my unofficial visit, I was watching the guys go over film and stuff like that.  I was seeing how he breaks it down and the guy can coach – he’s a really good coach.”

Sam Webb:  Your dad made it sound like he was putting a lot of pressure on you, but he said you were holding out because there were other places you wanted to see.  What are some of those other schools other than Michigan that you’re real high on right now?

Chris Brown:  “Schools like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Kansas, just a whole bunch of Big 10 and Big 12 schools.  A couple of SEC schools that I want to go check out.  I’m still open right now and I’m taking my time with it.”

Sam Webb:  What are going to be the biggest factors in your choice?

Chris Brown:  “Definitely comfortability.  I want to go somewhere where I can get a great education and possibly if I want to maybe just live out there.  Whether it is in state or out of state.”

Sam Webb:  How big a factor is where your man Dontavious winds up?

Chris Brown:  “Dontavious is my boy, but we haven’t really talked about going to school together yet.  I do not think it will play a big roll into whether we go to school together or not.”

Sam Webb:  If he wound up somewhere, would that be a plus for that school if you hadn’t made your decision yet?

Chris Brown:  “I would say so, but like I said, we haven’t talked about going to school together.  However the chips fall is how they fall.  Whether we end together or end up separated.”

Sam Webb:  What about timeline for making a choice, are you going to be a signing day guy?

Chris Brown:  “I definitely won’t be a signing day guy…well who knows (laughter).”

Sam Webb:  Has Michigan talked about getting back up there for an official visit

Chris Brown:  “Yes.”

Sam Webb:  Do you think you’ll do that

Chris Brown:  “Oh yes, Michigan will definitely be one of my official visits.”

Sam Webb:  Do you have any others that you know you’re going to take for sure?

Chris Brown:  “Oklahoma.  A couple of other schools, I’m still trying to map everything out and think about everything, but Michigan and Oklahoma for sure.”
