Smothers Reflects on Michigan Visit

Reisterstown (Md.) Franklin 2016 WR Steven Smothers discusses his latest visit to Michigan and more.

Reisterstown (Md.) Franklin 2016 WR Steven Smothers is one of the top prospects form the east coast and recently made his way to U-M’s campus to see what Michigan is all about.

“I got to see a lot of the facilities,” Smothers said. “I got to hangout with only one coach. It was Jay Harbaugh. His message was it was a great place to be. It’s a great city overall.”

Now with his first visit to Michigan in the books, where do the Wolverines stand now in his recruitment?

“Michigan is definitely in my top ten,” Smothers said. “I only got to see one coach. But they are still in my top ten.

“I would like to talk to coach [Jim Harbaugh] and the wide receivers coach [Jedd Fisch] some more,” he added. “I just don’t want to talk to a coach who is just going to talk to me. But a coach who is going to coach when I get there.”

That being said, Smothers says he would like to come back for an official visit this fall.

“I definitely want to come back for a game,” he said. “I want to hangout with [Jim Harbauugh and Fisch]. I want to see more of what Michigan has to offer.”

Along with his Michigan offer, Smothers also holds notable offers from Alabama, Florida State and Ohio State among others. Upcoming, he says he will be taking a visit to Rutgers.
