Upshur Enjoys 'Great' Visit to Michigan

2016 Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep tight end Naseir Upshur recaps his recent Michigan visit with The Michigan Insider.

Philadelphia Imhotep tight end Naseir Upshur, along with a host of other top East Coast prospects, traveled to Ann Arbor this past week and toured the campus. As one of the top targets left on Michigan’s recruiting board, the coaches made sure he knew how high of a priority he is during his trip.

“The visit went great,” Upshur told The Michigan Insider. “I got the opportunity to see the whole campus and see how I would be used and also learn about the education there. I got to talk to everybody. I was active with all the coaches, but basically was telling me how I would be used and how I would be a great fit.”

The Wolverines are hoping to get Upshur into the fold and plan on moving the 6-3, 227-pound Upshur all over the field, a role Upshur is very open to at the next level.

“I’ll be an F back, which is a H,” said Upshur. “I will flex out, block and basically create mismatches.”

While the four-star tight end has been praised throughout the recruiting process for his impressive skill-set, the highlight of his trip came when tight ends coach Jay Harbaugh sat down with him and let him know he still has work to do in his game.

“My favorite part was with me watching film with Coach Jay,” said Upshur. “No coach ever told me that I needed to improve right now. He had mistakes that I made on my highlight tape already printed out for me ready to teach me. I was flabbergasted and we got the closest relationship. He’s a cool guy and we can hold the conversation.”

At the end of the day, the Maize and Blue rolled out the red carpet for Upshur drawing high ratings for the trip.

“Michigan is a great program,” said Upshur. “I would rate the visit a 10 out of 10 because it had no turn offs there.”

Upshur plans to announce his college decision on August 8th and when that time comes around, Upshur will be having plenty of discussion with his inner circle.

“The main factor will be my family feeling the same way as me,” said Upshur.
