One of the obvious priorities left on Michigan’s 2016 recruiting board is Philadelphia Imhotep junior tight end Naseir Upshur. One that isn’t so obvious, though, is Upshur’s teammate, massive offensive guard JohnCarlo Valentin.
Despite the Wolverines having four offensive line commitments in their class, Michigan’s interest Valentin hasn’t faded. The feeling is definitely still mutual.
“I have been talking to the offensive line coach,” Valentin told The Michigan Insider. “We talked a couple days ago and he has been telling me just about being a part of Michigan football. I am very interested in Michigan. I just like the great history and the program in general.”
Among Valentin’s priorities is making it to Ann Arbor this summer.
“I was supposed to go with Naseir, Ron Johnson and them (on their visit a few weeks ago), but something came up,” said Valentin. “I’m now trying to get up there August 2nd. It’s not set yet though.”
Adding to Michigan’s appeal is the fact Valentin has friended several members of the Wolverine class and has established a bonds with them.
“I’m cool with a couple of the commits like Mike (Onwenu), Ron (Johnson), Brad (Hawkins) and some other guys,” said Valentin. “I would like to play with them.”
With offers still pouring in, the three-star lineman still has a wide open view of his recruitment.
“I don’t have a top list yet,” said Valentin. “I think I will have one around our first or second game. I will be looking to see where I can get playing time, my family and if I’m comfortable there.”
When asked what are the chances the Wolverines make the cut for his top list, he reply was simple.
“Solid,” he said.
